Diagnostic Writing Assignment | Points of Clarification | The Questionnaire
The work in our section of UWP 101 follows a designed sequence; as we progress through the essay assignments, you’ll be asked to combine ideas from all the readings we’ve done to date. Your assignments will also include out of class activities that you must schedule yourself: a tour and a purposeful meeting of a group.
You’ll write a one or two-page response to each essay by itself. Then your three long papers will be made up of the following components:
Essay #1: Walker Percy Essay + tour
Essay #2: Walker Percy + Megan O’Gieblyn + Assert the Function of a Purposeful Meeting of a Group
Essay #3: Collage-style essay using (or informed by) Percy, O’Gieblyn, and especially Griffin
You are responsible for researching and addressing the problems with argument, structure, style and grammar that I bring up in my comments on your essays. Over the course of the quarter, we will review Ann Raimes’ “5 C’s of Style.”
